Stimulus-funded Transportation Projects: MAPC's Role
Transportation projects funded by the stimulus are projects that are on the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization's (MPO's) Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) list. MAPC has a seat on the MPO board and has a role in determining the TIP projects that are slated to receive federal funds. To learn more about the MPO process, visit the MPO section on our Transportation page.
Stimulus-Funded Technical Assistance:
MAPC to Provide Technical Assistance to Municipalities Preparing Applications for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Competitive Municipal Sub-Grants program for communities with a population under 35,000
The Edward J. Collins Jr. Center for Public Management at the University of Massachusetts-Boston and MAPC are working in cooperation to provide technical assistance to municipalities in preparing and filing applications related to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The Patrick Administration, working through Jeffery Simon, the Director of Infrastructure Investment, has been the lead champion in ensuring that this technical assistance is available at no cost to the cities and towns.
In order to participate in this program you must contact the Collins Center at 617.287.7424 to ask for assistance. Please indicate that your municipality is located in the MAPC region and follow the four steps outlined in the following document:
MAPC welcomes the opportunity to work with municipalities in preparing this application. Please do not hesitate to contact Mark Racicot, Manager of the Land Use Planning Division, at 617-451-2770, ext. 2063 or mracicot@mapc.org or Rebecca Davis, Manager of Government Affairs, 617-451-2770, ext. 2029 or rdavis@mapc.org with questions.
